Grail
Peter Ross, the founder of Grail is 3rd generation in the fashion industry. His grandfather was one of the largest manufacturers of polyester pant suits in the 1960’s. His father was president of some very large branded garment manufacturers, and was always involved in merchandising, design, and sales. He had memories from when he was a kid, and his father brought home garments from overseas buying trips and asked him what he liked or didn’t like about every piece. Little did he know his eye was being trained for a future career.
Throughout the past ten years, he has worked for large lifestyle brands (Quiksilver), volume private label manufacturers, and has been merchandising and sales for a denim. He gained a credible education in production, product, and textiles. However, he could never fill the void of wanting to use his innate talents in design for his own endeavor.
The opportunity came to him in the way of friends in the industry for 11 years. Grail was born in August 2003 in conjunction with his partners who have a well established and successful full package garment manufacturing facility. It’s the perfect marriage of production capabilities, innovation, and creative talent. Grail is for anyone who is passionate enough to call what they do an art, whether you are a skater, a surfer, a musician, an actor, a painter, or a designer. This line of unique, custom clothes is for the artist who is fashion conscious, confident, and has the money to spend on the clothes of his/her choice.
Conceptually, Grail is rooted in the not so mainstream performers in the core arts. Music will always play a large part in the look and feel of the items they create. Grail is a brand incorporating nostalgic ideas updated silhouettes, completely original hand drawn graphics, cutting edge wet processing, soft hand fabrics, emphasis on fits, and fresh presentations.
To best explain the work environment, we keep the atmosphere and energy of the surf/skate culture, combined with the creativity of a couture house, while producing contemporary looks.
On the heels of their tremendous response at MAGIC in February ’04, they have gotten business from all the ‘A” list boutiques and specialty stores across the country as well as overseas. Grail has received some very important press, and had the opportunity to give the product to high profile celebrities who fit the profile and were extremely enthusiastic about wearing Grail. They have also hired good friend Rene Acuna who has worked at Hurley and Quiksilver. Rene shares a common passion for product, and was an important addition to the team. |
